W.A.R.T.H.U.G.Z.: Duke vs P.I.G. | Single | Author: Aymeric "MRCK" Nocus | Download

The Review: So-called neo-elites have deployed Pig Cops in select locations around the globe to wreck havoc. Too bad Duke just happened to wake up from his coma only to find out his job is still unfinished. MRCK's latest offering is another city map. As such, except something new and innovative. Here you've got some "new" enemies (including Pig Cop paratroopers), all made without the use of new con code. The results look pretty awesome, but gameplay-wise there are some issues, including a few glaring ones; for example, I couldn't hit the first chopper's second "weak spot" from the most logical place, i.e., the one closest to the vehicle. Like you'd expect from the author, you've got some tall buildings with a slightly futuristic vibe to their exteriors. And then of course you've got a billion trash cans, a modern fixation of the author. There are some notable little details, including stacks of bills and various signs achieved by combining old ones in exotic ways. There's also some subtle social satire here and there.
Your only enemies are Pig Cops plus various projectile shooters. Pig Cops may be my favorite enemy to kill, but fighting the same type of enemy does get a bit tiresome. Lack of cover is an issue from time to time, but once I noticed upon trying to assault a Pig Cop barricade that the author had opened up an alternative route with some goodies that allowed me to flank the barricade, so keep your eyes open! There's a final battle involving another projectile shooter. It starts off with a good idea, but it's combined with a bullet hell that compels you to savescum your way to victory. On my second playthrough I simply noclipped my way past the last door as I just couldn't bother with the constant bullshit barrage.
The map comes with a midi track that's just plain grating, so you'll probably want to turn the music off. (Primus sucks, and I mean in a non-ironic way.)
