Winter 2007-2008:

February 24, 2008: Men in Black!

No end in sight for new releases! Gambini (the guy behind Rush Back) released a bunch of his old maps for the first time and here's one, Men in Black, a good city map.

February 22, 2008: Zombie Crisis!

This one's a few days old already but my body was under attack by a Norovirus so I have been weak for the past few days. Now that I'm feeling better, it's time to return to our "regular" schedule. Zombie Crisis has been reviewed.

February 11, 2008: Mass Intension!

Based on first six weeks of the year we're in for a good Duke3D year! Another new mapper hits the globe with a hot map. Check Mass Intension by Harmon Kinstler.

February 7, 2008: The Dream and stuff!

Piterplus EZ Jr. (Moonbase Accident) is back with another brand new map called "The Dream". This somewhat innovative map takes place in a city that it actually just a setting for Duke's dream.

And finally, we have a new poll! The last poll asked "How often you play Duke3D?" and here's how you replied:
-About daily: 26%
-A few times a week: 15%
-A few times a month: 7%
-A few times a year: 46%
-Whenever a new map is released: 6%

Almost half of respondents pop in a few times a year to download a new Duke3D map. This is pretty much how I'd have responded if the question had been about Doom, Quake 3 Arena or Unreal. 1/4 of you are hardcore Duke fans.

Thanks Underworldfan for reviewing my brilliant Quake map, Distractions.

February 3, 2008: Rush Back v2.01!

Nothing beats having a new talent in the Community. Luciano Gallo has been mapping for Duke3D for years but never published anything - at least not until yesterday. Check his Rush Back v2.01, a heavily detailed map that scored 95 points.

January 24, 2008: Repent!

Pax Imperia represents everything that is wrong with Quake 2 - it's boring.

But anyways, James Satanfiend released a usermap for Pray Your Prayers 2000 TC. The map is called Repent and it's been reviewed here.

January 18, 2008: Moonbase Accident!

A new talent hits the community, Piterplus EZ Jr., with Moonbase Accident, a seven-map space episode. The episode scored 91 so it should be more than well worth yer time. Check Hot Maps.

Yeah, that's our third space release this year, btw!

January 15, 2008: Eclipse!

Came across this oldie while browsing Duke Repository and found it a worthy piece of Duke3D history. Check Eclipse.

Download mirrors added to JFCBP, JFCBP 2 and BobSpX.

Don't forget to check FAQ.

January 14, 2008: Frequently Asked Questions!

I should have done this nine years ago but better late than never. MSDN now has a section for Frequently Asked Questions. Check FAQ.

January 1, 2008: Happy New Year & JFCBP2!

Well, a new year is here and Duke3D is a year closer to being dead. I did some counting and here's how many new Duke3D releases there were in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 (only counting those reviewed/released at MSDN):
2004: 50 new releases
2005: 36 new releases
2006: 30 new releases
2007: 21 new releases

Since I only counted those released/reviewed here, you might as well multiply the numbers by something like 1,3. Even then the direction is clear, as you'd expect. But the big question remains: will the number stand at zero when DNF is finally released?

But let's not get all gloomy. If we count only hot single-player releases, Duke3D did better than Quake or Doom, both of which even today have active mapping communities. I myself am planning on releasing about two new Duke3D maps in 2008 although they may not be 100% by me. So, let's make this year better than the last one!

And we shall start with JFCBP2, a new community map by a bunch of losers like me. So, check the review and play the map!

In other news, Iggy released a new version of his Sewerside map. Check it out at AMC.

So, Happy New Year!

December 25, 2007: Merry Christmas!

Well, it's been quiet, a little too quiet if you ask me, but life goes on. I had a very nice Christmas and I'm about to watch some season 8 episodes of Seinfeld (got it for Christmas) and eat something good.

As for our Duke front, no new maps have been released but a few are on the way: SalaciusCrumb is about to release "Into the Storm", the third part of Crumb's "Storm" trilogy, and JFCBP2 should be out in a minute or so.

And, I'm sure you're already aware of the new DNF Teaser Trailer that got out a few days ago. Well, it's cool and has all the things that make a Duke fan tick but it's just a teaser. I'll get excited when the game is out which may be tomorrow or ten years from now. But in any case - MSDN will be the first site to start reviewing DNF maps. But that's an old story already.

So, as for now, just have yourself a Merry Christmas! And don't forget to check James's Christmas map.

December 2, 2007: Updates!

I updated My Maps section a bit - added Discarded Stronghold (Duke3D) & Distractions (Quake) and updated some review links.

Oh, and - Geoffrey & Hudson are working on a new mod, Zombie Crisis. A trailer was released some days ago - check it here.

November 27, 2007: Wonderful Christmas Time!

Yeah yeah... Late as usual but here's a brand new hot map from James, Wonderful Christmas Time, that uses the new DukePlus mod.

November 10, 2007: News!

A new map, Hidden Labs, added to "Upcoming Maps".

William Gee released a trailer of his upcoming mini-mod, WGRealms 2.
