Ancient Realms: Legends was originally reviewed here already in 1999. Because of a broken link to download this level (since CDRom.com died. This and Legends 2 had links that pointed to ftp directory) I decided to replay the level and re-review it so this level could get now more attention among younger Duke players. Legends has become a classic during these years as well as other levels by Mike Beaulieu (Legends 2 & Bobafett). It seems to be that now I pay more attention to its awesome details. First area starts from a cave system. Floor is filled with cracks, lava and fire. Rock textures are very well aligned to fit the feeling and ambient sound are amazing. Second area happens outside, between the alien base and the first area. Alien base is amazing. It has some cool SE-effects and lots of ambient sounds. Puzzles are amazing. There's also this neat chamber where there are dead aliens hanging in chains. End of the level is a battle with Battlelord. Battle happens outside in a Stonehenge type area which looks amazing with great shadows. You can still check the original/old review from here but to download the level click the download link above.
