- 3D-Models for Jonof's Duke3D Port -

Jonof's Duke3D port comes with a bunch of improvements. 3D-accelerated graphics, hi-res textures and now - 3d-models. To run all this new stuff you need a copy of Duke3d, a 3d-accelerator and a copy of Jonof's port. The port can be downloaded here: http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d

High-Resolution RPG:

Notes: Not sure who did this - most likely either Parkar or Roma Loom. Unlike our pistol and shotgun models (see below) the hi-res rpg is very much like the original, just maybe a bit too bright & clean.

High-Resolution Shotgun & Pistol:

Notes: Replaces Shotgun & Pistol with new hi-resolution models. Both weapons look pretty cool although they don't quite reach the feeling of the original ones (the way some new enemy models do). Also there are some slowdowns every time a level starts and you draw the weapons for the first time.

Enforcer model by Parkar:

Notes: Other than being a bit too bright the first version of the first Enforcer skin looks pretty damn neat. It's almost like a Velociraptor with clothes. The animation is smooth and it looks very convincing when shooting but it's a bit buggy (the dude gets "shaggy" at times). Requires the latest Jonof.

High Resolution Pack - put together by Pär "Parkar" Karlsson:

Notes: This is a massive 80-meg file with hi-res textures and 3d-models by many authors. It comes with the latest version of Jonof. The results are mixed. Some of the textures look very good - some bad or unfit - some just don't mix with each other. 3D-Models are mostly good although many are a bit too cartoonish and colorful. Also for some reason the pack is laggy on my computer which is something that shouldn't be when the game itself is from -96. Don't try to launch it via the normal Jonof Duke3D exe - the installation creates a separate exe for the hi-res pack. You might find this release interesting but at least I rather stick with the Polymost Jonof for fast 3d-accelerated graphics and textures that seem to be from the same game instead of slow thrown-together hi-res textures & cartoonish models.

LizTrooper model by Teemu "Zilppuri" Polvi:

Notes: Zilppuri's Liztrooper looks good, has smooth movements and managed to surprise me. So far it's one of the few good quality 'new stuff' releases. It's not flawless but it reaches the look and style of the original model.

A pack of enemy-models (author names in index.def):

Notes: This pack features new Duke Nukem model, new Octabrain model, a Liztroop model, a new Pig Cop model (plus that flying vehicle) and the dead Doom marine. Unzip files into Models/character folder and add the text from index.def into your duke3d.def file.

Recon Car model by Mean Person:

Notes: The Recon Car model stays loyal to the original sprite. The gray car could look a bit more rusty but together with the new Pig Cop model this one works pretty well. Copy the text from the included definition file and paste it into your duke3d.def file. Place models in your /models section.
